Service Column Lock???

Service Column Lock???
Just experienced a Battery issue. Hadn't started the car in 8 days, of course the battery was dead. Tried to boost it, first few times wouldn;t recognize fob. Inserted fob in glove box slot, tried to reboost it the next day. Surprise..... it turned over this time. All msgs cleared from DIC except this "Service column LocK". Car is 7 months old, hard to belive there'd be an issue with the steering column? Car has not moved in over 2 months (winter). Does anyone know if this msg will disappear once I get the car back on the road in spring or if this is truly a prob?
p.s I have heard in the past that when a battery goes dead, all the codes start flashing and won't clear till removed by the dealer or the issue goes away through use.
