At almost $700 is OnStar worth the expense? I have never had a vehicle where it was offered and apparently have been able to live without it OK. Just wondering.

I personally like it. For 2007 it will be standard on all GM vehicles.
It's marginal for me. I like having an in-car phone, plus the safe-n-sound feature if you have an accident. But $700 for the option plus $200 a year for the safe-n-sound option is a consideration.

Not worth it to me. I wouldn't have ordeed it but it was on a car I bought off the lot.
My insurance company said they do not give a discount for ONSTAR because too many people will not pay for the subscription after the first year. Thats me!

I didn't get it. Have it in my caddy but - as others have done - let it expire after one year. For emergencies, almost everyone carries a cell phone and I don't need it to help me find a restaurant.
But, I am a cheapskate. I didn't think the price was worth it.
I've had it in 3 cars now and have never once used it. And never renewed it either on any of them. I have a cell phone if something happens and if a really bad accident happens most everyone passing by will be calling 911 anyway. If you think you need it for (not so) cheap insurance, go for it. Otherwise its a waste of money IMO.

Had it in three previous GM vehicles but did not get it in the 06 and will not renew it in my SUburban this year.
I'm trying to get ONSTAR to offer a service that would call my cell phone & notify me if my alarm was going off.
For those of us who would want it.
Need more members to contact them.
ONSTAR is a wise investment.
I like the engine diagnostic check anytime & automatic email.
Welcome to the future

Pricey and unnecessary. I have it as another insurance policy. Rather that then be in an accident or stranded and wish I had it. Check back with me in 3 years.
I do wonder if Chevy has a crippled Nav that you can't change while moving to get people to call OnStar for help. With a state of the art Nav system and bluetooth cell phone OnStar would be less necessary. Then its' down to the accident notification and opening doors if you lock yourself out, which the rest of the automotive world seems to live without. Audi offered OnStar for a while and dropped it as soon as their contract with GM allowed.

It's a complete waste of money. I still can't figure out what I got for my $700.00. They tell me it costs upwards of $400.00 to upgrade it so it will be compatible with their digital network. They may as well have put a gun to my head and robbed me instead.
