GM is going to have to eventually start competing with ferrari/porsche/lambo. and its probably going to be with a Caddilac or the Vette.
What do you think?

Why would you think that anyone would want the Cadillac to compete in that world? A 4,000 lb. hardtop convertable made to compete with SL500's and Lexus 430's will NEVER go there.
Actually I really think neither. They may compete in performance. But workmanship and pure exotic as in Ferrari. I don't think they will get there or want to for that matter.
BUt if they did I doubt it would be a Caddy! Vette Heritage is too strong to ignore.

I thought the Corvette already competed with Porsche and Ferrari. Why would GM want to compete against Lambo?
The Z06 is already proving itself against Porsche and Lamborghini in terms of performance when it comes to the 911 and Gallardo.
I think GM knows it can't run with Ferrari and Lamborghini in terms of putting out a hyper-exotic like the Enzo (or the rumored new Lambo Miura), but it can beat them in terms of price and performance and whittle away at their foundation cars such as the 911 and Gallardo.
GM is placing the Caddy against BMW and Mercedes. And again, I don't think you're going to see a Mclaren SLR type car from GM anytime soon.
The supposed $100k "super vette" will probably chew into the Mercialago level of exotics, but I think GM's stratagy is to play the corvette's performance and price (starting with the Z06), against the europeon marquees' "mystique" and higher prices for comparable performance. I think that's GM's strength... to play the outside force coming in to shake up the aristocratic establishment.
That's just my opinion though.

Your post cannot be taken seriously. Dollar for dollar the Corvette is already a better car that the Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini and I am a fan of these cars. Repeat... dollar for dollar. Price aside those marks excel.
Give me a $45,000 Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini and then we can talk. Of course a $45,000 Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini with Corvette performance would put those 3 makers out of business.
A Ferrari/Porsche/Lamborghini priced Corvette would be the greatest performance car the world has ever seen but BG would immediately close due to lack of sales.
Corvette. Kicking A$$ worldwide. I will watch the 2006 24 Hrs of LeMans with the greatest enthusiasm ever.
