NAV update........
I threw the disc's in the garbage! Never again will I take that chance with someone else's car. This is a fix that when taken to a dealer and complaining about static in the FM will be handled by the dealer. Let them screw it up! It should take them less than 30 minutes to preform the proper install. Why take the chance? It's 99% assured they will do it for you and assume the risk.
You can do it yourself and most likely be successful, but what if this happens to you? You're out a $1200 nav unit. Let the dealer do it, or at the very least, buy the original disc's from GM.
Sorry, don't mean to scare anyone. But it sure scared me when my buddies nav unit froze up. That's a feeling you don't want!

Similar experience here! For some unknown reason the unit did not read the 1st disc and everything froze up! I took the car to a couple of dealers and was quoted a cost of $3,400.00 for a new unit! I figured what the heck and the next day once again tried to load in the update and thank goodness it worked. I must admit I was sweating bullets!
Now that it is done I can say it was worth it however if you asked me before the successful update I had a different opinion. You may want to be safe and let the dealer do it. If they break it they fix it!
