Reading another post it occured to me that some people are intimidated by the car. My GF won't drive it with or without me. Unlike many I don't mind letting people drive the vette if I trust them. I've offered 6 or 8 friends and only 4 have taken me up on it.
What's your experience? Ever offer someone and they said 'no"?
Huh. Good question, I really hadn't thought about it, but some people do seem to "keep a distance", so to speak, which could be due to feeling intimidated.
I know that my wife won't drive the car and has said that she'd be nervous about it. I suppose that's sort of like intimidated. She has muttered something about "not being able to drive it well enough".
I'm not sure I understand that, but then I've never turned down a chance to drive (ride, fly, whatever) anything, so I guess I'm not easily intimidated by vehicles.
My wife won't drive it because she's frankly afraid of the horsepower, and a couple of my friends who are approaching geezerhood are afraid of looking foolish getting in and out... So, yes.
Nobody drives my Corvette. I didn't like it when the dealer guy drove it into the service area for the fuel tank problem. My wife doesn't drive a stick. ( lucky me)
No one has even asked me. Including my wife and two sons, who I would let drive if they asked.
I understand not asking. People think you'll say "no". No one has asked me either but even when I offer half the time they give some excuse (not today, My back hurts, It's too new etc.) My GF drove the C5 once and when I remind her she says she wouldn't have if she knew it was new.
I thought most people were like me-I never pass up the chance to try something new. I thought most people would jump at it-no.
My wife loves to drive it. She doesn't drive stick so we compromised on a vette with auto (our C5). The pending C6 is ordered with the paddle shifter and after reading the various threads, it sounds like we finally both get what we want.

Hmmm, I'm well into "geezerhood" and the C6 is my fourth vette, beginning with an 427 (L36) in 1969. I'm not embarrassed to drive it, but I don't willingly allow any drivers outside my son (who owns his own vette) and my "geezerhood" brothers, either. They don't understand why we drive cars that can be noisy, stiff and hard to exit on a hill. But, then I don't understand why they play golf, either.
I let people drive it all the time. I throw them the fob and tell them to have at it. I have had quite a few people turn me down. No big deal to me... its just a car and the people who have driven it , drive it like they are elderly anyways, most of the people I should say.
I used to love to let people drive my C6 because I will always remember everyone I ever drove throughout my life. Remember one thing though. If anything happens it's your insurance that covers the incident and the premium will be yours. Just found that out last year when my brother wrecked my family car. I still let him drive my Vette though.
