Default question about tints

My cars at the tint place getting them put on. I told the guy to do 35% all around. My girlfriend has a lexus rx330 and got the front windows tinted on her car 35% also. We picked up her car and it seemed as though the tints werent as dark as on my bmw, which has 35% all around. My question is will the tint settle in more and get darker after a while or is that not true. If so dose anyone think i should go darker to say 20%? Any opinions would be apreciated.
Thanks

It will not get any darker, and I would not go darker than 35%. When I got my C5, I had the legal limit for a driver's window, 35% in Texas I think, put on the sides and darker put on the rear. The rear was too dark to see through effectively, especially at night. I had it removed and replaced with the same as the sides less than a week later, which was just right and drove it that way for six years. When I got my C6, I got 35% all the way 'round...perfect!

The tint will not get darker with time. When you get the car back, there wil be some cloudiness which will clear up in about 3 days, depending to weather.

A 35% tint is good. The same tint can look light on one car and dark on another car. This is due to the amount of base tint variation already in the glass and also the color of the interior.

I've tinted 1000 cars in my days as a window tinter. I recommend layering darker backwards. I like 50 on sides and 35 on rear. OR 35 on sides and 20 on rear. I have done this on both coupes and verts and they both look very classy. Do NOT go 20 all the way around. Looks like a thug and the cops HATE it. you will get into issues if you go too dark. IMHO, 20 is not too dark on the rear. With the new C6 auto dimming rearview mirror, you own't see jack out the back unless you turn the auto dimming feature off. This won't be a problem if you tint the sides at 35 since this will do the same effect as the drivers side auto dimming.

personly i like my 20% tints all around. it may look darker but that's because the interior is black and the car is white so i'm guessing both color cancel each other out to make each seem darker (tints) and lighter (the car)

I always get 15 on the back and 30 on the sides. That way when you look through the car from the side the tint looks uniform, since you are looking through 2 windows. I don't find the 15 too dark, or maybe I'm just used to it as I've had the same tint on all of my C5s and now my C6.
