With the St. Catherines engine plant closing in 2006 I think I may have an idea of what the LS2 is going to be replaced with in 2007. Check out the Vortec 6200 L92. It is being used in 2007 full size SUV's and would be the ideal replacement.

That's the engine that's supposed to appear in the Corvette in the 2008 model year. In the Corvette, it will be called the LS3 when naturally aspirated, and the LS9 when supercharged.
With what's happening at GM, who knows what will happen. They certainly could move the tooling for the current engined to another plant. The LS1/2,6,7 is still pretty early in its' lifecycle as Chevy V/8s go. It will be interesting to see what GM can swing.
Interesting, the SUV 6.0L rated at 355HP (45 less than the current Corvette) so if the 6.2L is rated at 380HP then you add 45 for the Corvette version you get 425HP. Sounds like the next logical bump in HP to me, 425HP is a nice round number.
I think if the next Corvette engine is 6.2L it will be for '08 not '07. GM is rushing the new next generation SUV's to market (to save their rear) so they will probably take their time to update the Vette engine.
