Default top

When I ordered my 2005 DSOM, I got the clear top. What is the procedure in getting the solid top? Order from my dealer, I assume, but does it come painted from the factory or does the dealer have to paint it before installing?

I believe is is better to order the car with the dual roof option. If not, order the car with the body colored roof and then order the transparent rooof later. However, if you have only the transparent roof, and want the body colored roof, I believe you have to order the "components", have the panel painted and then assemble.

That is exactly correct. It's going to cost, too.

Makes it hard having to paint the roof

If you decide to order the solid top, make sure the dealer also orders the headliner to complete the interior. I had to have mine replaced because of the delamination problem, and the dealer didn't realize the headliner was ordered separately. Then the top has to be painted and assembled.

Try to add the dual top option to your order. You should be able to do this if the order hasn't progressed to the production stage. If you are unable to do this, consider buying a solid top from another owner and paint if necessary. You will save $$
