What kind of subs would be acceptable to upgrade the stock in door sub speakers? I have the stock non-Bose setup and would like to upgrade my speakers without having to add a new amp.
As I understand, there are 3, 3 1/2", 2 10" subs in door and 2, 5 1/4 rear speakers in the system.
Any recommendations would be very much appreciated.
Blaupunkt makes some 10's that are shallow enough to fit in the doors but I would suggest leaving the stock subs in there and adding a component subwoofer in the back. When I made the change in my car they were powered by 200 watts RMS and it was tooooo much bass. The doors vibrated like crazy and it sounded like total crap! I used Dynamat in the doors and tried all the tricks I knew and could not get away from the loud buzzing.
If you decide to try it anyway I do have some Blaupunkt ODW 10's for sale. Retail is $349 each and I will sell you both of them for $250.00. Here are some pictures of the installation/removal etc.
