I had that message on my vert before I traded it in.
It turned out once the code had been set off, it stayed there until you or the dealer reset it. It doesn't matter how tight you make your gas cap after the fact. Nothing to worry about.
That is at least what I was told by the dealer.
I'm not sure if anything is different on the 06's.
I had the same problem on my 2005 LMB. I read on this site to put the cap on real slow and let it click once. I did and the next day the message cleared itself. I know, you won't believe it either. It worked. Don't know why, but everytime I refuel I follow the same process and it has not happened again. If that doesn't work, I'd take in.....But it will!
Took mine to a dealer, but it was lunch time so no mechanics around. The service writer said they would probably try lubricating the seal first, because they get hard. I went home and put some dielectric silicone grease on it and it went away. This was in the 1st 2000 miles of ownership.
Appreciate any ideas on what this really means and what to do about. Yes, before you ask, I did check the gas cap! ;-)
Thanks!
The message indicates that there is a possible leak in the evaporative emissions system.Fuel vapor pressure in the system is monitored by the computer.Zero pressure detected indicates a leak in the system, most commonly caused by a loose or faulty gas cap. The message should go away after a certain amount of ignition cycles without a fault detedted.

Had same message come on several times on way to work a couple of months ago. Stopped at dealer. They did computer check then put on new cap (warranty item). Took all of 15 minutes. Has not occurred since.
