I haven't noticed any problems with my window valet. My gas cap button works and I haven't tried the button to open my trunk in a while. I will go check that now.

I can assure you that the gas cap release circuitry cannot be affected by the Window Valet. The gas cap release switch controls a relay that drives a solenoid to release the gas cap latch. There's no computer involved. The Window Valet can only communicate with other computer modules over the OBDII data port.

As for the Window Valet that just stopped working: I'd first make sure that it was still seated properly in the diagnostics port; then I'd double check that the windows are indexed properly (even if the windows still drop when the doors are opened and raise when closed, the index data can be off just a little and the Window Valet may not move the windows if it's not confident with the window position data). To re-index the windows, raise them to the top and hold the up button for three seconds, release the button and then press up again for three more seconds. E-mail or call us if you still have problems.

Don't get me wrong i didn't say it was the valet just that the gas latch and rear latch button stopped working after i put the valet in and they started working when i took it out. It could have been something i did to reset the latchs after taking it out i will place it in again to see what happens you know as well as me that service departments always try to blame after markets devices for things that go wrong! Just want to be prepared! As far as the valet it works great does want it supposed to do!!!! CAR GOES IN THE SHOP TUESDAY WILL REPORT WANT THEY FIND!

Hey Mike, first - great product. Had one in each of my two C5s. Second, any idea when the updated version will be released that bypasses the horn when hitting the lock button three times to put the windows up? Thanks in advance.

Until that may happen, if you have time have the door open when you press the lock button three times, then simply close it before the window gets to the top. The horn won't honk with the door open.

The Window Valet for C6 has been updated to allow an alternate window-up command of unlock-unlock-lock. The documentation on our website reflects this and all units sold since around January 10 are of the new series. If you want to upgrade for free, just send your unit to

Top Down Technologies, Inc.
"C6 Update"
5339 Prospect Road, #338
San Jose, CA 95129-5033

and be sure to insure/track the shipment as we can't be responsible for items lost in transit to us. We'll reprogram the unit for free and pay the return shipping (USPS Priority Mail), so be sure to include your return address.

Thank you,
