Default Hello

Just a quick hello from a new vette owner.

I am a Brit working in the US and last week bit the bullet by excahnging my 2003 Nissan 350z for a 2005 vette. The difference is unbelievable and as a daily driver i am enjoying every minute of it!!

I have been lurking on this forum for soem time now and picked up some really valuable information. I have one initial question which some members may be able to help with.

The car has the XM radio aerial fitted but i cannot seem to access XM bands on the radio. The window sticker confirms XM is fitted and even goes as far as saying the initial owner had three months free trial. When I first test drove the car the radio had obviosly been diconnected from teh battery at some point. Would this wipe information on XM?? This does not seem likely but it's the only thing I can think of.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Congratulations and welcome

XM service may be suspended for some reason. You would want it in your name anyway. As stated above, call xm or use the website to get it activated.

Thanks guys. i tried calling XM and unfortunately they can do nothing for me without the ID number which I cannot get because I cannot tune to a XM band!!!

I may just have to bring forward the purchase of a new system.

Any good suppliers and installers in the Houston area?

You may have to tune in to channel 0 or 1 for the ID #. Can you guys help on this one??

Thanks again for the info. I have obviously not explained very well - I cannot access the XM band (1 or 2 I believe it should be) and therefore cannot tune to Channel 0 or 1.

It seems very wierd - as if having disconnected battery power has wiped out the XM information from the radio. i think I will post a question on the XM website and see what they say. Discussing it with them on the phone did nothing to help as they need the activation code from the radio before they can help with any problem. Sirius on my other vehicle was never this complicated/difficult.

If you have OnStar, they can give you the radio ID number

Welcome and congrats. As far as the XM goes, it should still be there. You might consider stopping by a deal and having them take a quick look at it to tell you if it is still actually there. Good luck.

congrat's - just push the onstar button and they will connect you with XM activation people. Let them know you just got the car and see what the deal is...works great! You shouldn't have a problem getting it connected; you might save $10bucks on line or £5pounds converted

Well it sucks to go to the dealer; especially since driving one of these cars is just great!!

The XM module for the coupe is in the rear portion of the vehicle; might be a little hard to get to. It should at least show previews; XM not activated shows three channels: preview, radio ID, and emeralt (emergency alt?)
