Great Forum guys. To start off, I am not a vette owner yet, thats yet mind you. I am in my 50's and yes I think the mid life crisis is very real. My wife & I first test drove the C6 one year ago this month and have not been able to think about anything else ever since. The smile factor was in full gear that day on both of our faces and that day only. And this is from two people who did not like vettes in the past. That test drive sealed our fate. Now its finding the right time to take the plunge. I would like to get an 05 and avoid the depreciation hit on a new one. Because of some issues I have to address first, I think I will be getting very serious come June/July. Between now and then, judging from what it has been like the past year, Its going to be excruciating. I need some love here guys, Some advice on how to cope from you lucky people.

You're addicted, you need more to satisfy your craving. Withdrawel is too painful to describe. Give in to the force, Luke.

Welcome from a late 50 yo. thats age not mindset

Do not know where your from, but if its upper US, think about getting a Vette now. Prices are much lower, as summer approches they will climb fast, more so if your thinking about a vert.

Just to be safe make sure of the build date on the door, If it's later in the year then you should be safe... And enjoy, which ever color you get....

i paid 8300 below msrp or 315 over invoice or 06/3lt/vert. This is the time. Besides if you order now you won't have the delivery until end of march anyway.

56 here and 17 Corvettes under my belt, including my most recent acquisition - an '06 Silver/Ebony/Black 6-speed Z51 convertible. If I were you, I would try to find an '06 now rather than go with a used or leftover '05. Rationale: dealers are discounting '06 in-stock coupes for $4000 off sticker. Moreover, there have been a lot of Forum members reporting a host of problems with the '05s that have been corrected in '06. You can read all here on the Forum. Good luck!!!!!

Buy which ever one you can get best deal on. Cold weather is the time to buy, but in my opinion not the time to drive. I have had zero problems with my 05. Good luck and happy cruisin'.

For me it started at 10 years old, I have 5 Vettes, now waiting for my next-2006/vert. Z51 Montery red/black top. It may be my last, even those I can buy GMS, these rides are getting more than I can afford. Going to get the 3m-clear bra on the front.

If you are "getting serious come June/July" get an '06 leftover. They will be plentiful with deep discounts. Stay away from the '05s.

It sounds like you are serious now, start looking around.
Narrow down the model and options you want, locate one for a good price, and take the plunge.
I'm in my 50's too, I bought my 1st Vette 38 years ago, and my 6th Vette is getting built on Monday.

Don't know why people are telling you to stay away from the 05's. I am very happy with mine, it's the best Vette I've ever owned (this is my 6th Vette), and I'm sure there are more happy 05 owners here than unhappy ones. I'd say go ahead and buy one now, whether it's an 05 or an 06. You will be happy with either one. And if you get an auto then you won't have the DBS problem. Good luck to ya, future Vette owner!!!

I can't give you advise, but can share your pain. I have been obsessed over the C6 since I saw it in late 2004, and later sat in one at the car show. I have had to put it on hold after buying my condo in January 2005. I am just on the verge of having my downpayment goal once again (so I can keep the monthly loan payment reasonable). I figure to be about 6-8 weeks away from contacting dealers, and the closer I get, the more I am having trouble thinking about anything else but this car!

BTW, I am 40, and have been obsessed over Corvettes since I was 5. My parents say that when I was 8 years old I could tell them the year of any Corvette driving by when we were on family road trips. It is a sickness I can no longer ignore.
