Well, I jack using little blocks of wood that act like pucks. My goal is to keep the metal from the jack away from the plastic sides of the car. The wood block just acts as a spacer.
You can use just about anything, wood, hockey puck etc,etc. it's just to act as a spacer so the jack does not come into contact with the bottom of the car. I have 2 jacks and with one, I need the spacer, and with the other I do not. Just be careful and pay attention and you will be ok.

Hockey pucks work just fine & they're just 99 cents in most sporting goods stores...
For the very small expense of picking up some pucks, why take any chance at all of damaging your car. You can make these things yourself if you want to do all the running around to the various stores or you can pick them up all the time on ebay.
