I recently invested in getting vertical doors for my c6, (from Vertical Doors Inc.) and it seems like they have been false advertising. I say this because first of all, they say only rolling of the inner fenders are required, but when i got my kit, i actually had to CUT the inner fender, but knowing that the car is fibreglass, it was kind of expected. But what really ticks me off is that besides cutting off the inner fender to make room for the aftermarket hinge, i also needed to SHAVE the side of the door so that there is room for the hinge. So basically, they advertised as "No cutting, drilling, blah blah blah" needed, but after my mechanics installed it, my car looked actually pretty "cheap"?
My question is, has anyone in this forum installed Vertical doors to their C6 and if you have, are there any major problems after the installation?
Had them on my C5 installed by West Coast Corvette purchased at Vertical Doors .com and they N E V E R closed right again. If they are off just a little they hit and will not close. WILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN. BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY EVER!!!!!
This is one mod I would never consider. Once you cut out a piece of fiberglass, you can't say, "well, no, I don't like it, I want to go back to stock." You either like or hate it, and you are stuck with it. Good luck.

The Lamborghini Diablos, with "factory engineered" vertical doors, have run into lots of problems. If they are not closed JUST RIGHT they will chip paint. If they are just a little bit more off, they will bend sheet metal and then never close correctly. More than one Lambo driver has had to go out the opposite door because his was jammed.
Not the best invention ever conceived by man (or woman) .

Not true. I have worked with fiberglass and have done patch panels. I've even completely rebuilt the rear wheel wells on the Down's '37 Ford 'Vert we're building. it's not that difficult, it's just very time consuming.
Just try to think of this as a learning experience. Sorry to hear you had so much trouble.
Is it possible to revert back to the stock doors once you've done such a mod?

A friend of mine had them installed despite my advice against it. The shop spent 6 hrs after the install getting alignment and adjustments right.
They close ok but you have to be careful. It's a 2 stage process. They also sway when up in any wind. He also found out that when he opens the driver's door his side mirror motor goes crazy.
Conclusion. They have a certain cool factor but practical they ain't.
