Default Z51 automatic?

Does it make any sense to buy a coupe with Z51 that's a six speed auto?

Default Z51 Auto

Why not. I have a Z51 A4 and it is a joy to drive not shifting all the time. I do like a 6spd but wanted an auto. The A4 is just as fast as the 6spd boys and will whip em especially if they cant shift correctly keeping control of the car, but I would test both out and decide.

Odd question. If you want superior handling or do any Autocrossing the Z51 is a must but the tranny is just a matter of personal choice.

To answer your question. Yes, it makes perfect sense.

Nice meeting you today. I don't think you'll regret the A6. I know I don't.

I would not buy one, since it is 5th car, but if it was my daily driver, I would.

A6 and Z51 are the only options I needed on my Corvette.

EDIT: it may be close now between auto vs manual, but put in the right converter and game over. Manual can't match up. And that's not even counting on reprogramming shift points and shift pressure.

And I am assuming the manual car has a good driver, which is a tiny percentage of drivers. Last fall, I saw a manual c6 run 14s all day long
I sure do see alot of C6;s with TC's and reporgrammed shifts points and pressure

are you sure, I have been looking and that is not what I am told. What is the standard A6 axle??? I got to go back and look at Z51 again, but I think I am right. Maxie Price told me to get the performance rear end I needed the Z51

Great combination. My A4 Z51 is perfect.

To more gears couldn't hurt.

That is correct.

Axle Ratio's:

6-Speed paddle shift = 2.56
6-Speed manual = 3.42
Z-51 manual or A6 = 3.42

which is probably why its not worth the extra dough to get the Z51 package in the automatic.

You are getting the coolers, suspension components like shocks and swaybars, better tires and brakes.

It should handle better but it won't be any quicker than a base A6.

The MN6 Z51 on the other hand is at least a tenth quicker and probably more, in the quarter mile than the base car.

Just because you dont pick up a tenth its not a great option to purchase with everything else you get? IMO its still the best option available for the money spent.

No. Corvettes are meant to be shifted. I have the MN6 and I love to shift. It's all part of the Corvette experience.

The only available ratio with any automatic(Z51 or without) in 06 is 2.56.
3.15 was a option available in 05 but has been discontinued.
