Everytime I start my 06 the radio plays for a couple seconds then shuts off. I always turn off the radio before I shut the car off. Its not the nav but the bose system. By the way Great driving day in New york and I had the Steelers and the under....
I have a 05 6-speed and the same thing has happened to me. I'll start the car in the garage and the radio will sometimes quickly go on and off. I always turn the radio off before I shut the car off. I've had 3 DBS episodes since getting the car in Oct 05. There is something wrong with the electrical system in these cars. Now I know there will be some that say its operator error. Give me a break. GM does not want to spend the money that they don't have to do the right thing. I hope you bought the extended warranty. It won't be long before the Chinese will be operating GM's old plants.
I have an '06 A6. I generally turn the radio off when I shut the car off. When I start it, I hear something that sounds like the radio for about 1/2 second as soon as the car starts. Really don't hear anything intelligible...just a brief noise. Otherwise, the radio seems to work fine.
I love getting over 1000 mp3 songs into my 6-disc changer.

Radio Presets Change and Audio is Lost (Set Radio Alternate Frequency (AF) to OFF)
2005 Chevrolet Corvette,
with CD Player MP3 Radio (RPO US8) or CD Changer MP3 Radio (RPO US9)
Condition
Some customers may comment that when they recall a preset FM Radio Data System (RDS) station, the audio is lost and the station fades out for approximately 45 to 60 seconds and then returns.
Cause
Radios are manufactured with the Alternate Frequency (AF) default setting to "AF ON". When the AF function is on, and the radio station becomes weak, it will attempt to seek to another stronger station that carries the same program. This functionality has limited use in the domestic market, where individual competing radio stations do not carry the same program - unlike in export markets, where there are chains of stations all carrying the same program.
Correction
Change the radio alternate frequency to off. Review the vehicle's Owner's Manual with the customer, especially how to turn on and off the AF function. Press and hold the BAND button for two seconds. After two seconds, a beep will be heard and the radio screen will display the current AF setting (AF ON or AF OFF). If the AF setting is on, press and hold the BAND button again for two seconds. AF OFF will appear on the display.
Try leaving your radio on when you turn off the car. The memory package will put the steering wheel, mirrors, climate control and radio where you left them when you shut down the last time. If you turned the radio off, then the memory function may be returning it to that state.
