Need your advice. I want to order the power top, but it's almost $2000 and my dealer seems to think I don't need it.
My Dad has an 87 vert and I never even tried to put it up/down---looked too hard. The dealer says the new ones are easy.
I'm 5' tall and not very mechanical---do you think it's easy enough for me? I never took the top off my coupe because it was impossible and I want to enjoy this car.
Also, do you think going with the power top will be a huge issue in resale value?
I had an 02 vert and the top was very easy to put up & down. The 06 is very easy to work manually also... BUT, everyone wants the power top... Your resale will be better with the power top. My 06 vert has power top... It's great!
I was going to get manual but I heard this this too, resale is way better with the power top and my wife had back surgery in Oct/05. Its easyer for her just to push a button.
IMHO spend the $$$ and push a button..!!! I have the power top on my '05 Vert. and love it.. No problems putting the top down, or up, at a stop light....Way ....and the re-sale (as if you would ever sale your baby) will be greater than those Verts. without the power top...

I love my 2005 with the power top, wouldn't have it any other way. I think this is only the second year Corvette had a power top (3rd now) so when you activate it everybody Ohh's and Ahh's! It's your dime get what you want, remember your dealer might have an easier time allocating a manual vert, just a thought?
AL
I have had an 03 vert with manual top and now have the 05 vert with power top and there is no comparison. I drive with the top down much more now because all I have to do is push a button to go up or down.
The power top is worth the dollars.
At these prices, this shouldn't even be an option. It s/b standard! On my 2002 Honda S2000(32K/car) a power roof was standard equiptment! This car cost 20 grand more!
I agree with the above. If you get the manual top there will be times when you are too lazy or too rushed to put the top down, even though you would like to.
You are much more likely to use it and enjoy with the power top. Even for just a quick trip to the store!
You will never regret spending the extra dough for this option IMO.

Get the power top! You won't be sorry and you'll recoup most of the investment at resale. I use mine all the time whereas I wouldn't if I had to be bothered with more than a button. It's a pleasure to use.

Plus, you never know what might happen in the future; arthritis, back trouble, stuck in traffic and there is a quick rain storm, etc.
