I was looking at a used 05 vert today,When I asked the salesman at the dealer about the history of the car he told me that the car was a "GM executive driven" car and that they had purchased it at a "dealer only" auction. He also told me that he could not do a print out of the original sticker because it was a "GM car"

I seem to remember a Post awhile back where a member bought one of these cars. And, was having some major trouble with the car.
Bottom Line: There are too many good deals out there on other '05s/'06s. Unless, of course, you get a really, really killer deal. Just don't let the "Stealer" BS you about the "exclusivity" of owning a "GM Executive driven" car. Most of the "Executives" probably beat on these cars like the proverbial red headed step child.
That's a very low vin. I'd look for something newer just to be sure that the crank-bolt issue isn't something that you'll have to worry about, even if it has the fix.

When was it determined that the crank bolt issue was strictly low VIN?
I though it has been found, at low rates, all through, and up to the 11,300's or so.

- my test drives were in one and the sales guy told me to punch it several times, which I did.
This was never sent to a dealer which means it was probably part of the test fleet. The test fleet could be a GM Exec or it could be a engineering test car, a press test car or a car used for Sales training. There's no way to tell for sure since they are all sold to dealers the same way.
BTW, there's no record of the Crank Pulley fixed being performed on this vehicle yet.
Thank You very much. I was just checking out your web site. I'll keep checking and when I see one that catches my eye I may give you a call
Thanks again, John

That sounds right to me. The cutoff was for builds sometime in December 04. I figure that with a vin of 209, that car is definately in the range for a potential failure.

Does anyone have any info or suggestions on this?
I have friends who work at the GM Tech Center, that drive program cars, and they BEAT the sh*t out of them.
