Maybe it's just me but I really don't see how the C6 interior is an improvement over the C5 interior. The passenger dash area is very boring compared to the C5's. I've sat in a C6 and just can't visually see the improvement over my C5 Z06's.

Then don't buy one and enjoy your C5. Problem solved. Thanks for stopping by.

Shylor,
I tend to agree with you on this point. I do prefer the interior of the C5 over the C6. I don't think boring is the correct word to use though. I do prefer the seats in the C5. Wish they were heated like the C6. (old bones). Other than the interior the C6 is a much better driving and handling car. I know I will get flamed by the C5 Forum on that last statement but it is true. Just like the C5 over the C4 and so on down the line. New Technology wins in the end and if anyone disputes that they are just kidding themselves. Anyway Shylor I think you had a valid question and thanks for posting.
I know that most of the responses are going to be negative, so let me now be the second one to agree with you. I think this is indicative of teh problems GM is facing. For the year or two before the C6 came out, there were several times that "Team Corvette" (Dave Hill etc) talked publicly about how the interior was a major focal point for improvement over the C5. If this is their idea of a major improvement, then they still have a lot to learn.
And for those who are telling him "then don't buy one", that's a pretty sh*%#tty attitude. I'm on my second C6. This is a forum. Can't someone post something negative about our beloved Corvette without being flamed? BTW, I know the answer to that question. People who own them can talk badly, but when someone who does not own one comes on to our forum and speaks badly about something, we tell him to go away. Kind of like I can call my baby ugly, but you can't.
I think the interior quality in the C6 is an improvement, but the styling, especially on the passenger side is a bit bland. I was expecting more improvements in the interior in the C6. But it is what it is so I just enjoy it.

Well said, David. I woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, so my reponse was not as eloquent.
I think the C5 interior looks dreadful. It's filled with all the same large awkward plastic ***** and buttons as on a 1994 Pontiac. The plastic is cheap and the lines are not smooth at all.
The C6 is world's better in styling (if not materials), but that in itself is not saying much given its pedigree. A Cobalt has a nicer interior than a C5 in my opinion.
If you have a C5 and like it, then don't buy a C6 - it's not difficult. There are so many of these posts of current or former C5 owners that reek of jealousy, or of wanting to feel better about having the "old" generation. There's nothing wrong with having a C5. The introduction of the C6 doesn't make your C5 any less of a car than it was before - no need to feel like you have to defend it at the expense of the new version. It's still a great car.

I agree. My wife asked me last night why I did not get a C6, I told her that both the c5 and c6 had strayed from the previous car's use of mostly unique ***** and parts in the car that set it apart. It is amazing, I had a 2002 Grand Prix that had the same radio and AC unit and other items that were in my C5. Later, I got a 2004 "new body style" Grand Prix company car that has some of the items from the C6. With regard to the Grand Prixs...the interior was "somewhat " an upgrade from teh 02 model, but they just went from an "organic round" look to a "straight edge" look and changed the color of the plastics for contrast. They did the same thing between the C5 and C6. Bottom line, the C6 interior is better and nicer...BUT it isn't light years ahead and BMW quality like some here claim.

I'm not turned on by ANY corvette interior on any model.
That said, I think my C6 interior is fine - like it alot better now that I own one. Room for improvement? Tons. But it's also fine how it is - a major interior upgrade will surely add on $4000+. Do I need Burled Walnut dash accents and a Mark Levinson stereo? nope. I'd like it, but I dont need it in this car.
I think the exterior styling of the C6 is a HUGE improvment over the C5. Personally, I think pop up headlights suck, and the C5's nose looks droopy to me, like it parked too close to a fire and melted. But that's just me.
Before I owned one, I was a big critic of the interior. Now, I'm just happy to own one. Besides, what would we mod if they made the car perfect?

Shylor, I don't think the materials are better, I still think it's Cavalierish to some extent. I hate big plastic dashes. That being said, fit & finish are a lot tighter. You notice it more when you spend time behind the wheel & then jump back into a C5. The seats are the biggest plus.
I am in the camp that thinks the C6's interior is a huge improvement over the C5 (just my opinion). I think the interiors of previous GM models were pretty poor. The ergonomics and layout may have been OK, but the quality of the plastics were poor (very "shiny" and hard). I think the more recent interiors are an improvement (have you seen the new GM SUV interiors...wow). I expect and hope that the C7's interior will be better then the C6...it's called progress.

I loved the C5 interior and there are elements about it that I like better than the C6s interior but the quality of my C6 (inside AND out) is just better overall IMO.
