Default Peformance question: which is quicker?

C6 Vette or F-18 being being launched off an aircraft carrier with full afterburners? I'm just curious. The F18 is more powerful but is sooooo much heavier than the Vette. My feeling is that it all would boil down to the drivers.

Carrier launches are made with catapults. 0-180 in about two seconds. No contest.

The Z06 would probably smoke it though, wouldn't it?

The Z06 loses when it runs out of flight deck.

It would depend on if the C6 is automatic or manual.

Hey dont forget the Z51 package now.. the F55 package would help smoothen out the big bump once it runs out of flight deck though

But Im gona have to go with the F18 if only because of the catapult... now the question is how far would the C6 fly if IT was launched off the catapult.....

From a past Motor Trend article:

http://www.motortrend.com/features/p...112_0304_fast/

Quickest-Accelerating Tuner Corvette

Pitted against a Blue Angels F/A-18 jet, Steve Dumler's stock-looking '01 C5 fitted with a Lingenfelter Performance Engineering twin-turbo 427 LS-1 V-8 ran 9.24 at 150.27 mph (June 2002, page 84). Zero to 60 mph took just 1.97 seconds.

That's pretty impressive. How would it do in the 1/4?

But remember... the C6 with the Z51 package would be 1/10 of a second faster!

How much for the Fighter Jet and aircraft carrier?

I think we (corvettes) got a deal when you compare the price tag.

Having done 85 of them in a 75,000 lb airplane I can tell you that the airplane wins hands down. 0 -140 in less than 2 secs

The Vette is quick but not that quick.

I think if you hooked the vette up the catapult then it would be quicker!
I think that would void the warrenty though..
Anyone else considering the Aircraft Carrier mod? (good for one run only)

Kinda brings to mind an old blue water navy aphorism:

"There are more airplanes in the ocean than submarines in the sky"

Only one run, but it would be worth it. Not sure about the warranty. Oh, and how bout a Grand Canyon jump attempt?
