It was my own fault. I have owned my 05 Velocity Yellow, MN6, power top convertible for about 6 months. The last time I shut it down I did not shift to reverse, apply the brake or lock the steering column. The result is I came back home after 2 weeks and discovered I had a dead car.
The result is a quick trip to the auto supply store for a battery charger, on the internet ordering a priority start and wasting sunshine and warm weather waiting for my battery to charge.

At least you admitted it.
There have undoubtedly been other instances of the same thing, but some of the owners may not have been willing to admit it. Instead conveniently attributing it to some sort of mysterious "syndrome."

....
And I suspect that a lot of others didn't either.
As he is bound to have this question raised: "How did you manage to get out of the car at all without putting it into reverse? We have been lead to believe that it is next to impossible to exit the car without it being in reverse. How did you manage to do it?

I'm afraid that your battery may never recover from this two week drain. You will probably want to look into a new battery to go along with the Priority Start. Autozone carries the Optima yellow top deep cycle battery will live through extreame abuse like this.

It happened to me once trying to setup the visor garage door opener with one of those rolling code openers. Jumping in and out of the car, up the ladder a few times to hit the 'head' button. Getting in and out. Rushed. Finally got it to work, and just left in a hurry. When I came back 4 hrs later, the car was still on, and in neutral with the obvious DIC warning staring right at me.
A few other times I tried to leave improperly, but the DIC warning and bells kept me in line. It is hard to do, but not impossible.
