Check your gas cap, ensure it clicks at least three times.

Do you have Onstar? If yes, give them a call, they could run a remote diagnostic check and let you know how critical it is.

Otherwise, sorry, no help here.

Default bin there dun d'at

Owner's Manual says, 'did you recently buy gas?". If yes, it may take several start/shut downs to extinguish the light. Read this section. We reseated the gas cap and it was 2 days before the Check Engine light went off.

Have you tried pulling the little bulb out of the "Check Engine" light?

Be glad the light is still on....so when you go for service they will see it and be able to check for the respective code. I've had the light come on then go off and the dealer was unable to find a code!!

Default service engine light

Disconnect battery to clear the code. If it comes back on, it's a hard code then bring it to dealer.Like the other forum member said probably just a light for a non tighten gas cap. Good Luck.

In the owner's manual it lists many pages of problem warings the DIC can display.

Not being able to read and clear the codes like the C5 is going to make GM a lot of money once the warranty expires.

That's why I buying this for my new C6:
