Default Windshield Wipers

Sorry to ask this...

I cannot "bend" up the windshield wiper on the passenger side away from the windshield. The drivers side comes up fine on the hinge, but the passenger side won't "bend" along the hinge, it gets stuck on itself. I cannot imagine this is normal, but thought I would ask.

Is this normal?

I believe there was another post about this....something about the wiper arm would hit the hood and possibly scratch the paint, so GM designed it to stop short. I could be wrong, but I think this is what I read.

I have noticed the same and think that this is correct. If you could just pull it up, the wiper would damage the paint.

What the above folks say is true. It was that way on C5s as well, for the same reason.

Default hmmm

seems odd.. but as long as we're all in the same boat. I think even the driver side would hit the paint (hood), but I am talking about even when the hood is raised. I can't lift the wiper arm.

Yep, a bad design, but normal. The driver's side does hit the trailing edge of the hood as well.

There have been earlier threads on this and general confusion about "raising the hood" as opposed to "lifting the wiper arm." The manual says, on page 5-55, to remove the wiper blade assembly, 1. open the hood and 2. lift the wiper arm. You are correct that the right side wiper arm will not lift. It has nothing to do with the hood being open or closed. Don't ask me how to change the right side wiper blade. Beats me - must be a dealer service operation !!
