Default BB Rt 66 v. Bullets

Another exhaust thread, I know but this will be a bit different. I already have a BB Rt 66 system on my C6 and I'm a bit bored with it. Initially there was a bit of resonance around 1500-1800 rpm, but the x-pipe I added a couple of weeks ago fixed that nicely. However, the sound, while nice, doesn't have quite enough "presence" for my tastes. So, I'm wondering if anyone here has made the Rt 66 to Bullet swap? If so, were you satisfied with the results, or appalled by the increased noise? FWIW, I'm still trying to find someone around the San Antonio/Austin area that has a set of Bullets - obviously the best bet would be to hear them.

REPLY: There is a real easy fix to your Route 66 exhaust ... we used to do this all the time back in the 1960's : Depending on how vicous you want it to sound , just add from 1 to 8 holes in each muffler with a hammer and large screwdriver. Here is the chart we used to go by : 1 hole = kind of raspy sounding. 2 holes = a mild cam sound. 3,4,and 5 holes = ported heads with large diameter dual exhaust . 6 and 7 holes = glass packs and all of the above. 8 holes = sounds like your not running any mufflers and youre in need of a tuneup. Hope that helps. (I never went beyond 8 and if you choose to do so, I assume no responsibility -- youre on your own). Best regards, Dave.

If you didn't just buy an x-pipe, I'd say add the new PRT pipe.

I originally had Rt. 66s but they weren't loud enough for me so I switched to the Bullets after about 300 miles. The first time I fired up the car with the Bullets on I knew they are what I should have gotten in the first place. They are much louder than the Rt. 66s. I can deal with the resonance of the Bullets, it doesn't really bother me and I will take that tradeoff for the badass sound of them.

I bought the Bullets and I LOVE them!!! People let on like its unbearable in the cab but I could drive 3000 miles with them and it not bother me. Its a little loud but you have to sacrafice a little I guess. Someone said if its too loud for you you can put dynamat in the truck and quietin it down. I dont think you will go wrong making the switch.

I am with you - like music to the ears. I had a blown 509 in my Eliminator Daytona cat with dry tailpipes and loved deep rasp when I goose the trottle. My new boat has twin 509's with wet exhaust and sounds quiet by comparison. I have never heard of anysound problems in TX and plan on going with an LG / Bullet combo.

OK, how can I put this (I had both on, first Rt66 and then Bullets).

You're going out where everyone will be there, Do you take a Brunette dressed in a Grey Sweater/Blue pants packing only a 32a cup or you show up with a hot blonde 36D's dressed in a red mini dress with a low cleavage?

End of story
