Well, I finally got it. Thanks to all of you who added information to my other thread. The full right up is HERE . There were too many pics to post in a single thread here.
Here is a pic of the system installed:
I also got a capacitor with it but I really think it doesn't work. Anyone know how to test a capacitor?
Awesome writeup! I'll be referencing this when I do mine; couple weeks away. Thanks!
It would be great if you could put it in your thread and get it linked to FAQ in Audio. SteveGermany can help you with this.
I would definitely mount that box. I'd hate to see what kind of damage that thing could do in a collision. Talk about a flying 80 lb missile! Mount it!

Great job!
Ask and it will be done! Nice work with the pics and write up!! Very top effort! There are some other ways to increase the fidelity of your sound system but I hope that your set up is your nirvana!!!
First you need to charge it as per the instructions.
For real? I didn't get any instructions. That makes sense now though cause when I had it in place, everything came of for a few seconds but then it kinda faded away like it ran out of juice. So do you know what you are supposed to do to charge it?
The capacitor is good for those momentary peaks that would otherwise dim the headlights. The GM/Delcrap OWM battery will not handle constant draw for long (take it from me). My 8 month old battery died on me.
Pulled into a driveway after a 30 minute ride, really CRANKING my system on the way. Hit the button to turn the motor off & EVERYTHING DIES. AAA dispatched, the battery tested @ 9.6v, even the the Voltmeter shows 13.5-14.2 all the time. Killed that sucker.
My installer suggested a yellowtop the day he put the system in, I figured between the 1 farad "Lightning Strike" cap, and the 14V on the meter, that I was gonna be OK. WRONG!.
Find out the easy way and just get one - or find out the hard way - when road service has to use an 18 wheeler battery to get you jump started.
My $.02...
Nice install BTW. I'll have to take pics of mine one day. Still waiting for someone to come out with both-side knockoffs of the JL cabinets.
Optima Yellow top series deep cycle spiral core technology battery. Exicide also has a good deep cycle battery. The Optima is sealed and recharges in about 1/3 the time of a std wet cell. Great peace of mind comes free with this type of battery!
Will it limit / eliminate the dreaded DBS? Is is the same size / does it fit in the same location? Is Optima a brand, or do several brands make this kind of battery?

My stock battery with my stereo system died in the ACC position in under 10 minutes. The optima has never died on me after an hours play the car started right up. I had one in my lightning, I think every car should have one, it's one of my first mods....but that's just me.
Optima is a brand. It probably won't eliminate DBS since no one really knows how it happens. If you get the right one, then yes, it will fit in the same place as the stock battery. I don't have a part number, but you can use the search and I'm sure you will find one or someone that has one can tell you.
I also agree that you don't need a capacitor for that system. The setup that you have won't draw enough power to really need one. Just replace the battery and you should be good.
