I just got a new c6 and I love it. Traded in a bmw z-3 for it. The z-3 had roll bars and it gave me a sense of security. The vette dosent as far as I can see. I noticed the caddy convertable has them also. Do you think its less safe without the bars?

GM has claimed that the C6 vert meets the rollover standards for a sedan because of a very strong windshield frame. Hmmmm...
The pictures I've seen of rolled C6 Coupes, all have the W/S frame bent down pretty far. Maybe the frame in a vert is stronger.
IF i had a vert, and IF someone made a bolt-in rollbar that didn't interfere with the top, I'd buy it. But I'm not sure that is practical, hard to find a place that's strong enough to mount the bar.
Ive seen a pic of a Lincoln Town Car sitting on the top of a C6 right on the window frame, and the frame did not collapse. Pretty strong... The Coupe also has a "roll bar" in the b pillar that is pretty good.
was one of the main reasons I bought the coupe instead. It is unbelievable that GM didn't at least design a fixed roll bar for the convertible. The new Miata, Z3, Boxsters, S2000 and most other modern roadsters have rollbars now. The faster the car, the more safety features it should have standard. Don't tell me that Vettes don't roll over which is what a number of Corvette salespeople tried to tell me.
In the coffee table book on the development of the C6 entitled Corvette C6 by Phil Berg, it says that the windscreen is intended to serve as the roll bar for the vert, as it is built to support the weight of the car. So far, the tracks around here will not accept that risk and require some other form of supplemental support.
