2007
I've said it before that IMO they should leave the base hp the same at 400 and up the Z51 to 425 or 435 ( a great nostalgic and very magic number ). Then perhaps pump up da Z51 with even better gearing and even better suspension and maybe, just maybe, some real live Z51 factory emblems. Then price it at $3500 to $4500 and quite fooling around with the present Z51 that adds no power and very small and questionable increase in performance based mostly on a small gear difference.
Ah.....the 435 hp Z51 vette for $4500 and with Z06 brakes $6500. I'm in line already. It still would not touch the Z06 but oh would it hammer the timid '05 and '06 Z51's while blowing away the C5 Z06's.
just my opinions ( and daydreams ) I don't want to mod my car.....I want more hp from the factory and I want an improved Z51 that makes me want to do something besides yawn.
Check differant dealers for pricing on z06As for hp increase who knows

Thank goodness they very likely won't be taking any of the above steps.
So an $11,000.00 mark up for a Z51 optioned Corvette. . When they are selling the current Z51 optioned Corvettes as fast as they can make them.
A whole 35 extra BHP, about 28-29 extra at the rear wheels, for a whopping $4500.00 markup when, just a set of headers, with a tune, or intake and exhaust will get you there for considerably less?
I can see it now. "Yeah, we know that the Z51 option was $1695.00 in the past, but now its $11,000.00.....Or you can go without the Z06 brakes and for "$4,500.00 and get 35 extra horsepower."
Thats $128.00 per horse above what we have now. $155.00 per each additional horse at the rear wheels. Sounds like a real bargain. Not.
to the ground. What kind of tire should they put on it? At how much $$ each?
... Its actually less than 29 RWHP if you compare it to the avg RWHP of a stock C5 Z06. It comes out to more like a 19 RWHP difference. Talk about "yawning"

He implied in a prior post that a stock C6 Z06 was full 1.5 to 2.0 seconds quicker than a stock Z51 equipped C6 in the 1/4 mile:
"....So, here's the thing. What are stock Z06's running in the 1/4 mile? 1.5 to 2.0 seconds faster than ANY other C6 Z51 or not? Please correct me if I am wrong on this and give me the exact Z06 figures. Let's call it 1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile. OK
So 1.5 seconds is 15 tenths. This means that if the base C6 with manual trans is X then the manual Z51 is X+1 and the Z06 is X+15..."
and in another post, said that he " cannot personally comprehend the need to have a Z06 instead of the base car unless a person plans to recklessly endanger innocent fellow drivers on the public roads."
So in all honesty, I'm not sure if he meant to add the $6500.00 on to the $4500 or not.
But like you imply, $4500.00 or $6500.00 for an additional 35 BHP and larger brakes???? Thats

I wish we could all be a little less emotional about others posts. OregonC6 did say IMO & he is intitled to this.
I like his out of the box thinking.
I would like 440 hp w/ better brakes and a lighter car for $3,000 to $3,500 MSRP option price. Then I could add intake and headers and be very happy for much less than a ZO6 price.
If there is going to be a HP increase, based on past experience the 2008 model year might make sense. Espeically since the Non-Zo6's are already selling for big dicsounts in many areas of the country.
