I would say not, if Corvette is maintain correctly. Meaning checking the oil. Should not go that low.

Good thing the DIC alerted you.

Without knowing when the last oil change was done or what the life remaining reading on your car says we really cant say if its normal or not... if driven hard you will most likely need to add oil before the DIC tells you your oil life remaining has reached 0%... so best answer I can give you is "maybe"

It is normal to use oil, you should be checking it on a regular basis. It just doesn't go down 1 1/2 qts overnight, unless of course you have a large leak.

Did you check the oil when you bought it? Have you been checking the oil at every fill up since? All cars use some oil, that's why they provide a dipstick, so you can check the oil every time you gas up, and add some if necessary to keep it full. You should never let it get so low the low oil message appears. That's either gross neglect, or a serious oil leak.

As per my local Chevy dealership (i.e. take with a grain of salt) the service manager said that it is NORMAL for the Vette to go through about 1/2-1 quart of oil per 4-5K miles. This may have been a bit of BS but either way, they added a quart of oil free of charge for me at my last visit. My DIC came on with the same message and I was surprised as my car has just passed 10k miles and the oil has been changed 5 times thus far.
All that being said, there is no better way than to check it regularly but if all else fails at least we do have a DIC to remind us in case we forget.

If you haven't changed the oil since your purchase, I would change it now.

Then monitor the oil level regularly to guage actual use.

The oil may not have been changed since new. Many owners rely on the DIC and it encourages extended change intervals.

Don't rely on the DIC.. Check the oil on a regular basis. I would say a quart in 2000 miles or so is nothing to worry a lot about.

I burn about 1 to 1.5 quarts every 2000. Gm says this is normal. I leave my Oil temp on the digital readout now and don't get on it till it reads at least 160 seemed to help a little bit.
