My friend had his 2002 stolen last week. Car was armed and near a security gauard. No broken glass on the street. No noticable noise. We can't figure out how it was done. I have a C6 (keyless ignition). Can anyone advise on weather or not the GM security systems are worth there salt or should one invest in an after market system (if so which one)............

Maybe I am just blind but I did a search and didn't find any info for the c6's security system.
I also was wondering if the factory alarm was good enough??
Or should I get a better one? Also was considering getting a lowjack installed thoughts anyone?
I think if you disable the battery it will take care of everything. I am not sure how they would do it though. A car dealership had a brand new suburban stolen recently. Someone drove it to the local gas station, cut the battery cable which disabled the GPS. Never found the vehicle.

Lo-Jack constantly draws a small amount of current. When your battery dies it switches to back up. With the DBS problems I wonder if I'd want one more thing drawing juice from the C6 battery? Lo-Jack is however without a doubt the best chance you have to recover you vehicle if stolen....... Sometimes they are found within hours and that's your best shot to ever see your car again..........
At the parking garage at work I saw them tow a car away in less the 60 seconds. The tow truck backed up to the vehicle with a bar in front of the front wheels of the car the were going to remove, then the driver slid another bar in back of the front wheels & lifted the car from his cab & was off.
I had my dealer install a shock sensor thats wired into the interior lighting so if some one smashes the window it triggers the lighting circuit & triggers the factory alarm.
I again contacted OnStar to see if the would provide a service that will call my cell phone if the alarm is triggered.

Can we assume that the owner of the car had made arrangements with the tow truck company to take the car and you didn't just sit and watch a car theft?
I was considering such things. But, not too long ago, I did stupid. I left the fob and key in the car. (bad move) I of course called AAA. They came out and could not get into the car. So, my guess is, unless you break glass you ain't getting in w/o fob or key.
Thats one good reason to keep OnStar so they can unlock your doors. The same thing happened to me at the Gym, I called them on my cell & ping In 7 minutes I was in.
