My delivery day to the local dealer is about three weeks away and I was wondering what ya'll did to help insure a safe (for the vehicle) transaction. I want to know the minute it arrives and be there for pictures and to make sure no one takes a joyride besides the wife and I. Did most of you call Allied and get an exact date? What about letting the dealer do their prep? I'm thinking I'd rather drive it home a bit dirty than let them wash it with their "sandpaper" sponges. Any advice? Thanks....
Specifically told them not to wash or wax it, wanted to take it home, wash it myself, and slap a coat of Rejex on it.
I told the sales manager several times not to wash/wax it, and when we went to pick it up, they had a big sign on the dash with big letters saying "DO NOT WASH/WAX!!" That was also written on the dealership paperwork as well. I appreciated that he went to all lengths to ensure that everyone who worked there knew not to touch it. I had to drive it home pretty filthy, but it was worth it not to risk some lot kid scratching it trying to do a quickie wash job.
When I took delivery of my 2001 Corvette, the dealer called after she arrived. I came straight down and just as I arrived, I saw a MY Coupe leaving the dealership..these were still pretty rare at the time, so I thought it was mine...so I follow it.
It drove around the block only, about two miles in all and never really punched it. Turns out the dealership test drives all the new cars when they arrive as a part of their Courtesy Delivery...
They washed it and cleaned it all up for me...which was ok with me, but you should receive it in any way you want it. Insist on it with your dealer!
