05 Vs. 06

Can someone advise the differences between 05 and 06 model years? Were there any problems with the 05 that were corrected in 06? I need an automatic and believe that was one major difference between the two. Any other significant issues?

Its a common question so I've saved a file:

2006 C6 changes:

1. A6 automatic transmission

2. Strengthened rear end

3. F55 software upgrade

4. 2 exterior colors dropped

5. 2 exterior colors added

6. New interior color

8. Three spoke, smaller diameter steering wheel

There was a problem with the painted roof panels that seems to have been corrected very early in the '06 production run. There are numerous threads on this topic.

Well, really it is more than 2 colors dropped. They dropped precision red, magnetic red metallic II, and millennium yellow. The precision red was dropped very early in the production year, though.

Didn't they also change the rearview mirror to tell you whether or not the passenger seat airbag was armed?

They also introduced a Z06, but you can't get that in an automatic.

You get a few nav map upgrades for free with '06, but '05 nav owners have to fend for themselves.
