Default Power vert top question..HELP!!

I have noticed that when I raise the top, the angled manual latch leaves an indention on the foam on the backside of the tonneau cover. This is when I leave the latch in the unlocked position. If I replace the latch into the closed position before lowering the top all the way it is fine, but when I raise the top, it makes a thud where the lock part is protruding as is comes down to where it meets the windshield?? The owners manual does not comment on whether to leave the latch in closed or open position when raising/lowering. Anyone experience/notice this??? Is the indention on the foam normal, also I notice a little scrape on the tonneau cover itself. What should I do??

Well... I never folded my lever before lowering and had no trouble at all. But read that others had some issues if not folded...

Thats what the foam is there for. It makes no difference. If you'd like to close the latch upon lowering the top that's fine too, but when raising it, just take your finger off the button for a sec as it gets close to the end, open the latch, and continue the cycle.

I always straighten mine out after opening it -

When opening the top, I open, push up a tiny bit, then close the latch, then lower the top with the button.

When closing, I wait for it to get to the closed position, then open the latch, pull down, and close the latch.

I always close the latch when opening. There is just enough of a delay that at one point I close the latch and it doesn't skip a beat. The same thing when the top is going up. Just reach up and undo the latch. It's been working real good for me. If you have trouble then just let your finger off the button and the top stops. Then hold the button and finish.

I know I know plus my stereo system would have had to be different because of the power latch thing in the trunk.

I have never done anything to my latch and have not had any problems with mine in over a year of continuous use.
