Ok, I know this subject has been beat to death, but I have a question that the answer is not clear in all the threads I read.
I recently purchased the last new 05 C6 my dealer had on the lot. Right away I was reading about the nav update. Took it in this week and the service manager told me I did not have 15263014. He tried the update CD's anyway and was told on the screen the CD's would not work.
MP3 CDs will play. Now to the question, did everyone's auto sound adjust work after you updated? I cannot determine if mine is working or not. Does not appear to, as I did not notice the same volume change as on my 04 C5. The screen comes up with an "off-on" button however.
Thanks for any info!
What do you mean "auto sound?"
Is that like speed-compensated-volume?

I had my service guy check my auto volume control. He could not hear a difference, but called GM and got some sort of answer that was something like "the auto volume works based upon the amount of ambient noise in the vehicle so it is impossible to detect". I called but it did not get me a new radio. I have the auto volume control on a Tahoe and it works great, but I understand it is "old fashioned" as it works based upon the speed of the vehicle.
Whatever
FWIW, mine adjusts based upon ambient noise. Recently I was sitting at a stoplight with the radio playing and my window partially down. As a loud truck passed me in the oncoming lane, I could clearly hear my radio's volume level increase. After the truck was past, the level came back down.
A good test to demonstrate whether or not it works is to speed-up to 55 with the windows down, set the volume so that you can hear it, stop, and see how loud the radio is. If its very loud, AVC doesn't work.
Mine works. Found out by accident. Did the upgrade in January this year. Few weeks ago on a straight a way I run car up to 100 and radio volume increase as I was playing a CD. Scared me and I slowed down, sound went down. Never knew it worked.
