Run flat means,...?
What exactally does run flat mean.
I keep reading about posts and threads where owners are getting fllats. I thought that run flat meant that the tire would not go all the way flat?
thanks

I bought a gauge to check the treadwear on my C6. Looks like I'll probably get 28K to 32K on my non-Z51 05 C6. The right front tire I had to have replaced after hitting a road hazard was $303 without balancing & mounting.

Went down to zero pressure two weeks ago. The tire operated perfectly! I drove about 10 miles at speeds up to about 45mph, as I headed to a GY tire center. No damage to the wheel. It was weird to press firmly on the sidewall and have plenty of resistance, yet when I pressed on the tread area, it would cave in!

I had two flats on my C5 and on one of them I finished going to dinner that night, went home, got up the next morning and after breakfast went to the tire shop and got it fixed. Definitely cool.
The only problem I had was when the DIC started dinging and said that I had low tire pressure, I quickly maneuverd in traffic to get to the side of the road...and then remembered that I had runflats and didn't have to do anything. So I just took off again and continued on my way.
