Default wheels for silver convertible?

Hey all,

I am getting a silver convertible with black top and red interior....

the big question is the wheels...

stock grey painted or upgraded polished?? im not a giant shiny fan so chrome is out of the list for me...

what do you think?

I have the same color combo and bought aftermarket chrome for it.............however, if shiny is not an option for you, then probably the gray would look the best because the "upgraded polished" tend to look like somebody's poor chrome job for a rather lot of money. The silver with red is a fantastic color combo............just don't let the red leather get dirty because is shows up quickly!

The stock wheels look great with machine silver.
It's probably the only color that doesn't really benefit from the polished wheels.

Gotta disagree with you on that one.

I have the polished wheels and think they are sharp. Not too bright that they detract from the paint but a good highlight nevertheless.

Imagine that...30 minutes ago I walked out of grocery store and 2 identical Silver verts parked 1 space apart, one gray the other with chrome...IMHO, both looked good...the chrome caught my eye first but then I looked for a few minutes and really it would come down to personal preference because like I said, both looked good..maybe because they were both Corvette's and I don't have mine yet.

That would have been convenient to see before I bought my car.

I was wondering about stripping the oem silver wheels and doing a brushed look. I prefer an anisotropic highlight.

I think a contrast looks good between wheels and car, so my choice would be grey wheels. Polished and chrome would look OK, but would clash with silver body IMO.

With a black top,I would go with the cheapest wheels, then anodize or powder coat them black...
With silver paint, that would look great!

Exactly! I just bought a set of silver OEM wheels from another CF member and took them in today to get them stripped, sandblasted and powdercoated in a high gloss black. I think it is going to look sweet with my "black out" tail lights and markers, Gloss black lettering on the rear on my Machine Silver C6. I will post some pics in a few weeks when it is done.

have a machine a machine silver coming with painted gray wheels, thing is i've never seen the combo in person. i've seen the ms and the gray wheels just not together, when i ordered the car chrome wheels werent available so i didnt want to risk waiting. i'm sure i will like them and in a couple of years i'll treat myself to some new wheels to spruce the old girl up.

Below are pics of my first C5 with painted wheels, my current vert with polished, and the latest. Sorry the colors don't all look the same - different lighting conditions really make this car photograph differently (especially with me behind the camera!).

Honestly, the pics of the painted wheels don't do them justice. I really thought they looked pretty good on the silver. But I promise you, the last picture with the CCW's is the sh*ts. Those look incredible on the car
