I went with my wife to a jewelry/women's clothing sale(for charity) at a
Mercedes dealer about 20 minutes from home. While she browsed so did I.
And after an hour sitting in every M series from the 230 to an SLK I can tell you, until you get into the "more expensive" cars the differences in the interior are marginal at best...
The Vette really holds it's own in the area where it has come under some of it's greatest criticisms.....it's nothing against a Mercedes but it certainly can't be held against the Vette either......
I agree abd the BMW did not inpress me at all vert has it all over iether cars unless you go to the CLS500 very sweet car or the 6 series BMW vert mean but for the price the vette wins hands down in my book
I was a service writer at a MB dealer for a short time, unbeliveable amounts of dissatisfied customers. The car is not anywhere as good as it used to be, and I am talking about all class MB's.
Owned several high end BMW's and I gotta say the leather is fantastic. On the other hand ask me about the electronics and I'll tell you another story.... They were nightmares..... They changed so many electronic parts I lost track! The problems only cleared up when I sold the POS....... So I'm not to worried about vette quality....

I have traded my Sl 500 for an 06 vert which should be coming in two weeks. I can say this, the fit and finish in the 01 sl was much better than the fit and finish of my old 2000 C5. The 06 looks to be alot better than the 00 and in part that swayed me to go back to the vette together with the 400 ponies under the hood. And truth be told value for money. The 06 vert offers lots of bang for the buck, the mercedes does not!. My 2 canadian cents .

the benzos interiors have never been particularly impressive to me. honestly, who cares about gnarled oakwood dash and shiftknobs?
i absolutely COVET the AMGs though. especially the E55 and SL65
edit: also saw a bentley coupe the other day and looked inside and that interior wasnt that impressive to me either. i would take an acura TL interior to the bentley's. IMHO.
German car quality ain't what it used to be. My neighbor's '04 SL500 had exactly 20 warranty repairs during a 36 months lease. My '04 Porsche required a replacement engine and so did my neighbor's '03. My C6 doesn't have to be all that good to be better than my Porsche. Compared to requiring a new engine and other mechanical failures, the appearance of the interior is trivial.
I had a 02 boxster s and didn't think much about the interior, positive or negative. A boxster owning buddy and I went by the Porsche dealer to look at the Cayman after we had been out thrashing my 06 a6 vert. I thought the interior in the Cayman was pretty bad. [the way it looks outside is another matter] The center stack was a mass of tiny buttons. The seat upholstery was plain jane, the instrumentation was the now old porsche standard, and I was thinking that lots of people critique the vett interior quite hard, WTFO. I'm not saying that the vett interior is fabulous, but at the price point I think it's very nice. I like the fact that the side bolsters on the seats are vinyl, cause all the cars that I've had with full leather seats show the wear there quite rapidly. If you want that euro-luxo look you can always get one of those fake wood overlay kits.

You've got to be kidding. We've owned a C320 and a couple of BMWs and all of them had better interior materials and fit and finish than the C6. No comparison. The ergonomics were always worse, but that's a different issue. Only a "marginal" difference? You're dreaming.

True, true, but you're off-topic. GM interiors are some of the worst in the industry, still. I suspect your '04 Porsche had a bad rear main seal?

They guys on here wear Corvette Colored Sunglasses.
The C320 was a 2001, which is virtually indistinguishable from the current C350. One BMW was a 2000 Z3/M Coupe, the other is a 2005 X3, which we currently own. The X3 has the sport package, and the seats and leather are awesome. The carpet is higher quality. The dash pieces are more solid, though lots of people hate the rough vinyl dash covering BMW selected (not me).

My point was that he didn't compare it to a BMW and he didn't compare it to an older Mercedes. He only compared it to several models of NEW Mercedes.
