Compass doesnt work!!! HELP!
Finally a great weekend here on LI to take the vette out for a cruise. Still cant get the smile off of my face.
But......
I noticed the compass on the rearview mirros doesnt work.
Anyone have this problem before, or now of a cause / solution.
Will make an appointment with the dealer, but thought someone might have some insight into this.
Thanks.

Did you check page 2-36 of the owners manual?

For the $50K you paid for the car, you should be expected to remember that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west and that blue algae tends to grow on the north side of trees.

Nope!
Common misconception. It's actually blue algae.
(Actually, some mosses and lichens grow on trees, but the stuff we commonly see on the sides of trees in the North and call moss is actually algae.)

this could be a great a problem in a high performance car as the head up display not working....somehow over the years I've managed to know what direction I was going without a car compass....I also try to explain to my kids what maps are for and to find directions near to home you don't have to sign on and go to a map site OR program the nav.....somehow though they just are not warming up to "maps". I think they may get the sun thing though. I'll work on it.

Give us some symptoms. For example, is the window blank and dark, is it flashing wierd words with no compass quadrant, is the window saying E when you are driving into the setting sun, etc. Impossible to help you without more info...all when we can say is do what the owner's manual says.

Is it giving the wrong directions? Is it stuck in one position? Is it off all together? Please give us some idea of the problem and maybe we can help!

Maybe that's the reason so many of them are still lost, theirs doesn't work. Did the C5s even have one?

Check the plug on the back of the mirrior it might not be pushed in all the way. If this is the case your onstar would not be working either.

Reset your declination zone before you calibrate...I believe the factory sets them all with the same declination zone as the plant. If it has still has "CAL" flashing after the first calibration try, calibrate again, but drive in opposite direction circles from the first try.
