I burned a version 2 map disc from a download that was made available here on the forum, and there's a problem with it... The map looks great but it's no longer possible to program routes, POIs, etc; those functions are just dead. Either errors occurred during the recording, or it's write-protected in some way... Anybody know? This happen to anybody else?
Make sure you are set to the right region. If it reset to a different region and you are looking to search for local POI it will come up with nothing.
When I first put in a new Map Disk and searched for a local city it could not find it and I too thought someone was totally wrong. But rather than being set for the midwest region it was set to the northeast region so it was searching that region instead.
I actually had worse problems than that with mine. At first it worked OK except for the fact that it couldn't recognize as many back roads as my 1.0 disc, but then I started noticing some weirdness. Press the mic button to say a voice command for example, and the little mic icon would not appear and my voice commands wouldn't work. Then it started to get really slow like it would take 2-3 minutes to change back to regular map mode after displaying a close-up of the turn even after I had already made the turn. For the icing on the cake, it seemed to start interfering with my aftermarket XM module and actually locked up the XM module as if the nav was sending bogus commands via the computer's data bus. In the end, I had to switch back to the 1.0 disc. I have no idea whether it was the type of disc I used, the computer that burned it, some problem with the disc running on my early VIN nav, or what, but I just gave up. I figured it wasn't worth it anyway since I noticed the same problem as many who have the real (non-copied) 2.0 disc in that it seems to show less country/back roads and is unable to guide you in places where 1.0 was fine.
