I purchased a C-6 key fob on ebay and I couldnt seem to get it programmed. Do I have to have the dealership do this? Anyone know how much it will cost? I tried programming it from the manual instructions and it wouldnt work.
Did you follow the instructions in the owner manual step by step? If so you may have a bad FOB. I just ordered a 3rd spare FOB from Fichtner for $36. I sure hope you got it cheap.
I could not reprogram the fob using the instructions in the owners manual. Plus, two repairmen from different dealers could not get it done. We had to use the scan tool to do it. The dealers covered it under warranty for me.
Thanks 70 NAV. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I guess I will see if the dealer will do it for me. I would suggest to anyone else who does this to go out and buy a brand new one. I didnt know you could buy them new for under $40 as a previous poster had stated. I will have to see what the dealer will charge me for a new one. At least I should be able to reprogram it myself instead of worrying about a dealer messing with my car. I am really wondering if the push button start is that much of an enhancement. It appears to me to be more of a hassle than what it's worth. Sometimes simplicity is better than all this high-tech stuff. Whatever happened to the days when you paid $1.00 to get a key cut? Oh well, I am not going to sweat the small stuff.
