Man, this if really frustrating. When you don't shut the car down correctly, its your fault, not DBS.

For those of you on your high horses saying that this is a "user initiated" problem, forgive me, but you have no clue. There are many very knowledgeable car people on here who know how to shut their cars down, and still get unexplainable battery drains that kill the car in a day or so. And these same people, following the same shutdown procedure, can go weeks at a time with no dead battery. My car went 6 months, with no driving for 2-3 weeks at a time , with no issue. Then it started and its totally non-predictable. So a Prioritystart module saves the day now, until GM fixes it.

So, please, do some research, or at least have some sympathy for those of us who really DO have a GM (not user) initiated problem!

Paul

(ps, all the dozens of theories have been posted on here, so please read them all before you repeat them. "search: DBS" will find em all!)

If you don't shut an 05 down in reverse and you end up with a dead battery, that ain't DBS! DBS is something that completely kills your battery over just a few days when the car IS shut down properly. By definition, DBS only occurs when you do shut it down properly. Many dozens of us have had it happen and have confirmed that we shut down properly when it happened. The last time it happened to me was when I was in a hurry and exited the car quickly. I've been waiting a few seconds now before I open the door after shutting down. Who knows whether it helps or not but with GM basically doing nothing to resolve it, all we can do is guess and report.

Paul,

I said that I attributed it to my Bride not shutting down properly. I don’t know that for sure. It was in reverse, and the P Break was set when I had DBS.

Let me amplify. Several times after pushing the button to exit, I have experienced the seat not going back & the steering wheel not retracting. I realized that something was amiss. In each instance, I reset the break and jammed it into reverse again. After those actions, the seat & wheel retracted. I suspect that the switch on either the break or the shifter is to blame. I think that my Bride just didn’t recognize the signs. But she did have it in reverse and the break was set as many opn the Forum have reported.

The take away is to ensure that the wheel & seat retract.
