Drove the car last Saturday for about an hour. Parked it in the garage as always, shutdown as usual, (yes, I did everything I was supposed to do), went out to the car just now and it's dead. Nothing. No lights, no anything. Third time it's happened to me. Car was fine for most of the winter, sat in the garage and took it out every few weeks just to start it up. No Problems. First time I take it out for a ride since last November and now this. Sure hope they figure this out soon. 2005 MN6.

DBS: It seems to be very random... Did you do anyhting different on your ride. Like pop the hood. Maybe the underhood light was on??
It's a tough call if you're not driving the car very much. It could be that with only occaisional usage, that the battery is going south a little bit each time. I would think that 1 hr of driving last week would suffice though.
Time for a battery tender or prioritystart until an official solution is presented.
Now, unofficially, if you remember to shift to neutral before exiting the car, you should watch for the DIC warning to 'shift to reverse'. If the car didn't register your initial reverse shift on shutdown, the stage can be set for DBS without you knowing.

Thanks. I have tried to follow those instructions to the letter. Still happened. Also, this time, the battery is totally dead. Roadside Assistance tried to jump it but that didn't work. The dealer will be bringing me a new battery on Monday morning. I don't want it towed.

You mean that you've even been using the 'recheck for the DIC warning' trick and STILL crapped out? Tell me NO!
14 months and 15,000 miles on my Z51 6 speed Coupe
Last week had my 2nd DBS, took the car to the dealer and they said there is nothing wrong! Come to think of it they said nothing was wrong the first time!

In a few months when you need a new battery they will say that's the way it goes.

That's DBS for ya!
If the dealer found something, then it probably it wouldn't be DBS!

Most dealers do not have a clue. Heck even big old GM does not have a clue. Of course they changed out the steering reverse interface for 06, and guess what problem gone.
Read between the lines here people!
The random nature of this is what I find so frustrating. Personally, I'm convinced it has absolutely nothing to do with how you shut down the car. If it's in reverse it shouldn't go dead...period. What's happening seems to happen regardless of what you do or how you do it.
No warning, no logic, no rhyme or reason. I only experienced DBS once, but there's no way I could ever know if it will hit again. For now, my Priority Start is my only hope.

Well I don't know. Sometimes before I exit my car after a proper shutdown in reverse, I shift to neutral and see the DIC warning 'shift to reverse'. I certainly can't/don't ignore that!
I'm trying to get others to see if their car will do this.
I am convinced that an incomplete or aborted shutdown is the culprit.
My theory answers just why the car can die despite being in reverse.

I've never seen that and haven't been able to make my car do that short of not putting it in reverse on shutdown. Very odd.

Yep
Attempting to place blame on the 'shut down' procedures is a little like blaming it on not checking to ensure the lights were on
Anyone that is deaf and/or blind should be excused
Just ordered Priority Start! Should have done this before. $44.00 shipped. I'm sure it will be worth it.
Just looked at the Priority Start website.
The Standard is $84 and the Pro is $99.
Where did you order one for $44 shipped.
The build date for my C6 manual is week of 3/27. Would like to have this before car get here.

You might indeed have DBS, but driving around for an hour is not enough to properly charge a battery. These batterys are **** anyway. Use a battery tender when not in use, especially for longer periods of time. Even the CD they give you with the car says after a month of not using the car the battery will not perform. (i.e; dead)
