If you don't have the Nav, the following will do it (page 3-78 of owners manual for '06):
To change the time default setting from 12 hour to
24 hour, press either the H or the M button for
two seconds to enter the clock mode. Press the tune
**** to select between the 12 or 24 hour display format.
The clock mode will automatically time out with the
changed display format set as the current default setting.

Yep, those instructions were left out of the 05 owner's manual. TedG got them from somewhere and posted them here about a year ago.
May be easier just to join the military, we need all the help we can get.
I got used to military time when I worked for a USAF subcontractor. Even after being retired for 2.5 years, I still keep my wristwatch on military time.
