Pressed the blue button to speak with my OnStar rep and get everything set up today. The radio was playing in the backround while we talked. The rep said that shouldn't happen and it was a hardware problem. I'm not sure about the hardware part, but it's a problem. The radio plays anytime the phone is in use. They said I needed to take it to the dealer and I've made an apointment for next week.
I was just wondering if anybody else has had this issue and knew of the resolution? Let's just say my confidence that the dealer will quickly be able to diagnose and correct this problem is low.
In case anybody else ever does encounter this, it cleared up by itself. I had tried changing the band to FM2, XM1/2, etc and still heard an AM station playing when I used the phone or OnStar. So I slept on it, and when I got up this morning I was going to do a battery disconnect and decided I'd try the phone one more time before I did. Now it cuts out the radio like it should when I use the phone. Go figure. At least now I don't have to take it to the dealer!
I would suggest to new owners that the first time they contact OnStar with the blue button that they have their radio off, since mine was playing when this happened to me. Not sure if it matters but what the heck.
Oh gee, I was gonna tell you the radio should mute when onstar is on. Anyhow, I'm glad it is working. More problems should be fixed by sleeping on them.

Sorry, can't help you here, but everytime I hear the word ONSTAR, my blood begins to boil!
I called Onstar for the first time today. They obtained my email address and will update with a report via email. They can read everything about the car off site and will email a report to me periodically. Evidently they can tell everything about the car off site.
