Default V1 Mount

I used the suctions mounts on my C5 onto the front windshield just to the left of the rear view mirror. The C6 has that black bubble stuff on the inside of the windshield that prevents the suctions from sucking

Anyways, how are people mounting their V1 into their C6s?

There is a mirror mount available along with the cord thats available to hook up to the power in the mirror. Do a search and you will find it, I do not have the link, sorry

Like many forum members, I have the Great Lakes visor mount (http://t-rexsoftware.com/greatlakes/) and an Invisicord (http://www.invisicord.com/) and am very happy with that method. Mounted the V1 to the left of the mirror and connected the power to the mirror plug. Very clean, stealthy install.

That combo's the best solution, yet.

The detector's directly in one's sight of vision below the RV mirror.

I found mounting it higher on the windshield using the suction cups in my C5 forced me to deliberately look up to see if there was an alarm. An especially important detail if/when the stereo volume's turned up.

You're taking about the mirror mount. I have the visor mount. The mirror mount is best for driver visibility, but is really obvious from outside the car. The visor mount is higher and not in your line of vision, but much less noticeable from outside.

You can use the suction cup mount on the C6 but must move it about 6" more to the right. Works fine there.

The bigger issue is that the tint band seems shorter and less dark than on the C5. The V1 in suction cup mount was almost invisible in the C5, sticks out like a sore thumb on a C6. That invites thieves and extra attention from constables, which you don't want. The Great Lakes mirror mount hangs too low and so also makes the unit conspicuious, their visor bracket might be good if it's high enough and also set back a little from the windshield to help hide the unit. The Valentine visor mount is not so great, you must fiddle with the visor to aim the unit.

In the C5 I used the suctions cups high in the tint band, I felt OK with leaving the car with the top open for a short period of time because the V1 was inconspicious... I think I would be really nervous using the under mirror mount.. to the point of wanting to disconnect and hide it... Is that what you guys do? Is it easy to disconnect?

it would be easy to remove if you wanted to.... I havn't removed it from it's location since I installed it.

I used a peice of velcro across the bottom of the Rear View mirror/top front of the detector, so the v1 is flush with the mirror. It also stops the shaking of the mirror from the added weight of the detector, and makes for a nice clean install.

I use a small bungy cord to secure the V1 to the speaked grill, the power cord hides between the windshield and dash to the fuse panel in the passenger foot well This takes about 5 min to do.. It connects to the heated seat fuse and comes on with the ign. I have used this method for 4 years in my C5 and 1 year in the C6 with NO loss of performance

I have a V1 also and want to mount it with invisicord and on one of the visors. Could you tell me how long a wire you ordered from him? I have Ed's Great Lakes visor mount ready to go, but no Vette yet. Also how hard is the invisicord to hook up? THanks for your help!

I used the invisicord (get 8") and mounted it with the suction cups about 4" to the left of the mirror (drivers side), just below the black bumps. I think the mirror mount would hang down too far and cause visibility problems around corners. I also read where the mirror mount falls off.

I measured from the mirror plug up to the windshield trim, across to the mount, and straight down to the V1. To mount on the right visor that measurement was 18", so I ordered the 20". The cord went up along the mirror harness, then tucked under the windshield trim going across and the extra 2 inches, and straight down to the V1, looked great. I recently decided to move my V1 to the left visor to make it easier to glance at. The extra cord, now several inches, again tucked away under the windshield trim, the visible end goes straight down to the V1, and looks great. If you're not sure which side you will mount on, get the 20". If you know you're going on the left, measure and you can go shorter.

The invisicord is very easy to install, just follow the directions. If an invisicord pin won't go all the way into the mirror plug at first, try inserting it on a different side of the wire.

I like that setup, what did you make the mount out of if you dont mind me asking? To be honest im not looking to spend $30 again for a small piece of mild steel.

i just bought a piece of metal at home depot, cut it with a hacksaw and drilled holes then i attached the metal piece to the original visor bracket

i used electrical tape to make it black because i was too lazy too paint it but it would probably look better with paint. It probably cost me 3-5 bucks and took about 30-40 minutes to make it

Great Lakes mirror mount and Invisicord connected directly to mirror plug works great for me. Powers up and turns off with the ignition and is easily removed and stored in center console.
