I purchased the sill guards from mid america last month and sent them back! They did not fit tight and when I closed the door it cracked them. Not very good quality.

Got mine form a GM dealer off EBay.
They are a bit wider than stock and have a silver trim around them.
Pulled the old ones off, used a little disc brake cleaner to take off the left over residue and stuck the new ones on. Done.

That's pathetic... this is not exactly a high tech part! Can't close the door without cracking? thanks for the info

Are we talking about the clear plastic ones that cover the sill and the interior colored "step-over"? That's the part I am concerned about, the interior colored textured part. My grandson (2-1/2) likes to get out of his car seat and stand on that part to get out. Also, I sometimes scuff it with my own shoes getting out. I thought the clear plastic "clip-ons" looked interesting, if a bit expensive. Does anyone have these?

Default No problems with mine

I'm currently using the black protectors on my C6 and have had no problems. They snap down in place and fit perfectly in my car. Doors shut fine. Not to say all would fit the same. My C6 is Machine Silver with Ebony interior. I think they look nice with this color combination. Hope this helps.

They look great, but I'd be just a paraniod about scuffing THEM up as the unprotected sills...

You forget that you have to remove your shoes before entering the car !!!!

At least with stainless you can polish out any scratches.....like one I got while I was installing them !!!!

No "guards" but I went with the aluminum door sill trim and am very pleased. They really help to dress up the car.

Were these sill guards the Mid America clear thermoformed Sill Guards (no tape, glue, fasteners, etc.)? Has anyone else had experience with these? I had planned to get them for my 07 C6 this summer. Thanks.

I got mine about 2 days after I got my car and noticed I was already leaving scuff marks on the door. I purchased the clear guards from Mid America. Mine fit fine and the work great. I wish they made a clear guard for the side of the door. All I have found are the stainless...

I thought about buying these protectors but when I checked Fred Beans web site, realized that the original G.M. parts (sill molding and sill step adhesive backed cover) are not that expensive. So I decided to forget about protecting the originals and just replace them when they get all beat up. Mean time I'm just being extra careful getting in and out with my big size 10's!

The reason I went with the clear molded protectors is that they cover the paint on the entire sill. The problem I had was not so much with my scuffing the molding but the paint on the sill.
