The HUD feature is very awesome - it sets the C6 Nav apart from other cars and especially after market units. Also, after market units get in the way in the **** pit, you have to move it around or hide it if you have a top down vert and it otherwise looks tacky. Go stock Nav!

As far as I'm concerned getting it is a no-brainer. It works well and I really like the way it's integrated with the HUD. When you think about it, it's pretty amazing technology - the satellites that the system operates with can pinpoint the car's location within a few feet. To me that's very . My Corvette is my first car with a navigation system...now I'll never buy another car without it. Go for it.

Don't get it - If you only plan to drive with the Corvette Club on local drives with the top off , then you won't get much benefit from having one. Otherwise, get it, you won't regret it.

I know about 20 people with nav systems, and without exception, we all say the same thing. I'll still buy cars without it, but they are old cars that never had it as an option.

I see people that hate it, but they seem to be the kind of people who live in smaller towns and never take the Corvette outside of it. The first time you're in an unknown city and need to get somewhere, it's a God send. Especially if you make a wrong turn. Even more especially if it's a town with a diabolic road system, like Seattle.

I didn't get it in the 'Vette. I have one in my 300C and in 12 months I've never needed it. I used it a few times when it was new, but the "gee wiz that's neat" wore off after a few weeks and I've not used it since.

Just another toy to play with. Not necessary. Like HUD, etc. Now my DIC is very important.

Exactly right!

However, if money "IS" an object with you, it probably can't be justified. But, it's definitely a fun (and often helpful) gadget and looks great in the dash!

I love it.

Default Not against NAV, but....

To me, NAV is a great device that most will only need occasionally. After 2-5 years or less, the newest NAV's will be much cheaper, much better, and do much more. I don't want my C6 to have a handycap at sale time with an outdated device. I have a handheld that is good to use in all three of my vehicles and a boat. About 5 years old now, and definitelely needs replacing. Looking toward Garmin, Magellan or Lowrance to fit my needs with an add-on. The best are $800-$1100, with 5-7 inch screens, play music files through your radio, and with enough hard drive to download movies, home video and pictures. Free updated software is readily availible, downloaded online, and yes you don't have to wait for GM support. By the way, I think the dash looks best without it!

If you don't agree, your not facing reality. Remember when you paid $2-4k for 33-66 megahertz, with 60-100k storage, displayed on a 15" CRT !!!

Default Nav

I've had four after-market units and wouldn't go anywhere without one. Corvette Nav with HUD is particularly useful. The GM manual is not thorough enough, and you must work or network with other users to discover its full capability. Even on known routes I find ETA and detour capability useful. In areas with named, not numbered streets, its very helpful. If you have a "back seat (right seat) driver" often along its a great discussion/arguement settler/avoider. I enthusiastically recommend getting one unless cost is an issue or you are one of the rare types who always knows where they are.

I have it and like it. To be truthful though, I don't use it all the time, but when you need it, it is really nice to have. I also like having the radio functions on the screen.

I love gadgets and the nav is a great gadget, but there is a downside to getting the nav (besides the not insignificant cost) that one rarely sees posted here. I skipped getting the nav because I really wanted the in-dash 6-CD player. I love having 6 CDs loaded at one time--no dangerous distraction from changing CDs while driving, the ability to skip between them at a push of a button, and the ability to randomise and listen to songs from different artists back-to-back. You can add the trunk-mounted changer of course, but I found that inconvenient in another car. Being able to load 6 CDs in the dash is much easier and I find that I change them around more often when I don't have to open the hatch to do it. I do sometimes wonder whether I made the right choice due to my love of gadgets, but mostly I think I did.

My C6 is my second car with a NAV. My first is my 2004 TSX. I thought it was gimmicky too, until I really starting using the NAV in the TSX. It is great for road trips, and has "saved" us many times. One time we were traveling to my parent's lake house in the middle of WI. The NAV got us there without a problem, but then it occurred to me that we had no idea where the Piggy Wiggly was, and food is kind of important. Then my wife says "The car will tell us where it is." Sure enough, I type in "Piggly Wiggly" and there it is, about 3 miles away.

I will never buy a new car without NAV again.
