Default 2007 model year

Does anyone know when the 07 model year will begin production and when you would be able to take delivery? My dad has a 57 vette and I would like to have one 50 years later but I am not sure if I could wait. thx.

The following is from Ken Fichtner's newsletter, which can be found on this site:

1) 2006/2007 Corvette Production News – New

2006 Corvette Production News – March 10, 2006

Exterior color, Daytona Sunset Orange (71U) is being discontinued as an available color selection for the 2006 Corvette and Z06. Saturday, April 1, 2006 will be the final DOSP cycle available for Daytona Sunset Orange placement. A replacement color will be introduced for the start of the 2007 model year.

The much anticipated Chromed Aluminum Wheel (QX3) is finally available for production. QX3 availability will run at approximately 25% of Corvette Coupe and Convertible production beginning March 20th

2006 Model Year
Final allocations published for dealers to view on May 17, 2006
Final production date is June 26, 2006

2007 Model Year
Dealers may begin submitting orders on June 1, 2006
Production will begin on June 27, 2006

By the way, I think it's a really special idea you have to have the half-century split between your and you dad's cars. My father had a new '57 Buick Special. He used to work for GM when I was a kid, and I remember him driving from our home on Long Island to Detroit to pick up his car and save the shipping cost.

Back in those days in my neighborhood all the neighbors would come out of their houses and admire someone's new car, kind of like a block party. His was red and white two-tone. Very sexy!

My father's long gone, and I haven't had a GM car in decades. I'm heading toward a '07 Corvette too, and a flood of fine memories seems to be an unexpected bonus.

Hope you can work it out.

Who makes the chromed aluminum wheels for C6 production? I thought the wheel manufacture they were using filed for bankruptcy? Will you be able to order them from GM Parts Direct and or your local Chevy dealer?
