looking to get the GM external 6 CD changer to go with the NAV...IF I am not mistaking I read in a tread a few months ago the pre hiring is already done from factory? Can somebody confirm I sure don;t see any loose connectors in the storage compartiments
OK diD some research...It IS not pre wired but it connect in the XM module 3 feet away...now the obvious question...how about wheh you dont have a xm module
Check under the carpet above the driver's side rear wheel well. Pull off the roof storage bracket at the wheel well, just pull it it straight off. I think there might be a cable there which would be for the xm module. I know that you don't have the xm module but the wiring might be there. you would just connect the harness that came with the cd changer to the cable connector for the xm radio. Good Luck.
Let me try to save you some money. a CD hold about 22 song. Times 6 would be 132. You can get about 150 songs on one CD if you use MP3 format. I just made a CD with 10:07 worth of music on it. Not much reason to get a Cd changer. I hope this helps.
I found a male connector ....see pictures...does the CD changer coming with a female connector?
It Has been a while since I installed my changer, but I believe you are set to go with the connector that you have. Your dealer should know if it is the proper connector. I am not home now and can't check the install pictures. Hope this helps.
Recently installed one in my car. It comes with the hook up cable that plugs into the XM harness under the left hand rear carpet.
The included cable is a dual adapter that allows both XM and changer to plug into the body harness. It dosen't matter if you have an XM module, just leave that socket empty.
Takes about a half hour to install. Piece of cake.

Unless that CD changer also plays mp3 cd's...As far as I know there is still controversy over this. Fred Bean's seems to indicate that it does...others say know. I'm still waiting to hear from someone who has it if they tried or not. Clearly, in my opinion almost $500 is too much unless it also plays mp3's [(6+1) x 12 hours=not too bad]. Although if the neucleus box referenced elsewhere on the forum works to control an ipod through the headunit that would be even better.
