Default Purchasing question...

I am planning on buying a C6 this December once I have the cash saved up to buy it outright (I hate car payments). I live near Tulsa, OK, and I don't expect that the local dealers will likely have a 07, black 3LT with z51, A6, with ebony interior on the lot when I go, so I figure I'll be ordering. What is the process, how much deposit do you leave, does it take about 6-8 weeks to build, etc. Any input so I can plan effectively would be appreciated, and if any of you know any local dealers in my area (or better yet forum dealers in my area - i don't wanna drive to NJ) that would be helpful too. Thanks!

If you do a search on courtesy deliveries you will find a lot of interesting information relating to your question.

You can basically order anything that you want from one of the participating forum sponsor dealers, and the car will be shipped from the factory to a dealer close to you.

You will have to pay a slight fee to the delivering dealer, but I found that I was able to save many thousands of dollars by purchasing this way.

The way allocations and procuction is now, it takes about eight to nine weeks from order to delivery.

How many vettes does the dealer of your choice sell a year? That should give you an idea about his allocation. Of course, you could ask him when is his next allocation, but you may or may not get a truthful answer. 6-8 weeks is typical if the dealer has very many allocations. But if you're not happy with what your dealer tells you, buy one from a forum dealer.

$1K seems to be a typical deposit, although some have paid less.

The dealer I used is just South of the OKC area, they gave me $4k off msrp, no hassles, no deposit, 5 weeks from order to fob in hand, car came in just as ordered. I have been told that they sell about 70 vets/year. Everything was handled over the phone or by email.

I talked to several of the Forum dealers, all were great, but none came close to the discount on an "ordered" car.

PM me I for more info.

Not sure how far it is from Tulsa, but I had a very pleasant buying experience with Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine, TX, between Dallas and Fort Worth. Very, very good deal and no deposit required. Car arrived five weeks to the day from ordering, flew to Dallas, drove it home.

Contact one of our CF supporting dealers like The VETTE NET and let them find an allocation and work the deal. Then order the exact car you want. I'd also opt for the NCM delivery.

Good luck

I can say from recent experience that the deposit is up to the dealer you are working with. The dealer I am going through asked for no deposit to order the car I wanted. I was surprised by this, but they said this is how they do it. They feel that they will have no problem selling the car if I back out.
